Head-nodding occurs when someone nods off to between two and 30 seconds, often without realising that they have been asleep. According to research by Brake and Cambridge Weight Plan, one in eight drivers has ‘head-nodded’ at the wheel in the past year. Reduction in road deaths and injuries
The latest Department for Transport statistics indicate the numbers of people killed in road deaths in 2010 fell to 1,857 – a reduction of 16 per cent on the previous year. New research from Elephant.co.uk has revealed that while many men like to think they are the superior gender when it comes to driving, men actually have bigger crashes that cost more money than women. Looking at more than 200,000 claims, Elephant.co.uk found accidents involving men aged under 25 cost on average 15% more than those involving women of the same age.
