Car clubs benefit from steep increase in car insurance premiums
Car insurance premiums have seen a steep 14% increase in the past year according to the AA British Insurance Premium Index. This is the highest rate increase on record and average premiums for comprehensive motor cover jumped by 5.6% in the third quarter of the year, the biggest quarterly increase since the AA first started monitoring the market in 1994. The Commonwealth Games organizing committee has rejected accusations that it paid more than $500,000 to a small London-based company for services including car hire, makeshift toilets and road barriers. The TimesNow television channel claimed that the committee transferred $585,000 to the A.M. Films company, which has also been receiving ongoing monthly payments of nearly $32,500.
