Despite the dramatic deterioration in its business environment, the Volkswagen Group met its unit sales, sales revenue and earnings targets last year and recorded the best figures in its history. Sales revenue grew by 4.5 percent to €113.8 billion on the back of a 1.3 percent rise in unit sales to 6.3 million vehicles. At €6.3 billion, operating profit was up by 3.0 percent year-on-year. Motorpoint is continuing to defy the doom and gloom within UK car retailing, posting its best set of sales figures for November for over three years. Figures for last month show sales were up 18.5% on the same time last year (and over 25% on two years ago) – buoyed by record savings on the nearly new Ford Mondeo, Saab 9-3, VW Passat and the Vauxhall Vectra.
