Mercedes-Benz is set to deliver several innovations in 2008 and customers can expect new models as well as great deals. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate will hit the road in March and is sure to be popular following the five star rating given to the saloon model by Euro NCAP. Diesel vehicles are becoming increasingly popular as consumers look to save the environment with low-emission vehicles. Kevin West, national sales manager at Mercedes-Benz Cars, believes more customers are opting for diesel models. Following the best sales figures in the history of Mercedes-Benz, the luxury car maker is expecting to boost sales even further in 2008. Chief executive of Daimler AG, Dr Dieter Zetsche, predicted that worldwide sales would surpass the record figures of 2007. Talking at the Detroit motorshow, Dr Zetsche was aiming to raise Mercedes-Benz’ earnings through sales by ten per cent by 2010. Diesel engines account for majority of Mercedes models sold in 2007

Diesel engines accounted for 57 per cent of all Mercedes-Benz models registered in 2007. The figure represents an increase from last year’s proportion of 51 per cent and is way up on the 22 per cent registered in 2000. Of models in the M-Class that were registered, 94 per cent contained diesel engines in vehicles such as the ML 280 CDI, ML 320 CDI and ML 420 CDI models.
